John’s vision for Delaware’s future is one that includes a world class education system, a 21st-century economy, quality health care for everyone and an environment with clean air and water. As Governor, he will work to make Delaware an even better place to live, work and raise a family.

During his public service career of more than 20 years, John has worked tirelessly to make Delaware the great place it is. Whether it was leading the state to its first AAA bond rating as Secretary of Finance under former governor Sen. Tom Carper, helping lower cancer mortality rates or helping an underperforming school earn a commendable rating, John has worked hard to improve the quality of life for all Delawareans.

Growing up in a house with eight brothers and sisters in a working class neighborhood in Claymont taught John the importance of working together and of family. Both of his parents were teachers and they taught him the importance of hard work and a quality education. The values John learned as a child led him to a life of helping others.
